Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes: Embracing New Beginning and Endings

Three years ago, it all started with a neighbor’s act of kindness during the Dixie Fire.

While the fire raged, and we were evacuated with our family, she watered my flowers by hand through power outages and choking smoke because “I couldn’t let your flowers die.”

Canterbury Bells from our first year!

At that moment, I began to believe deeply in the healing power of beauty.

Now, three years later, I have seen that power over and over as I deliver flowers.

I have cried tears of joy with you while delivering Bridal bouquets, cried heart-wrenching tears with you over funeral flowers, and locked eyes when they were filled to brimming, remembering loved ones and the flowers that they loved.

I’ve ooohed and ahhed with you over new flower varieties, and laughed so hard about how frustrated we get with gophers eating our tulips and roses.

It is hard to put into words how much Barn Swallow Gardens has changed me for the better. I am so grateful to everyone who also saw value in beauty and then helped me bring it to our community.

I am simultaneously filled with pangs of grief, and deep excitement as we move into our next adventure.

We will be closing down Barn Swallow Gardens in its current incarnation so Andre and I can start a new adventure with our family in Savannah, Georgia.

Starting late next Summer we will be embarking on a sabbatical year to the South.

Before we go, I wanted to give you the opportunity to connect with us over flowers a few times before we leave.

A few dates to keep in mind:

This Saturday, November 16th will be our last event and sale for the year.

I have wreaths and bulbs available for pre-order on the website and you can pick them up on the 16th.

If you don't want to pre-order and just stop by we'd love that too.

I have lots of tulips available and will be offering the opportunity for you to make mix- and -match bags the day of.

There is also a rumor that Leo will be having a scone stand!

I will not be doing bouquet subscriptions this fall,  but I will have a few pop-up farm stands in the spring to sell our beautiful tulip bouquets.

Keep an eye out for those Pop-ups in April & May.

Our last event will be a Dahlia & Yard Sale over the weekend of the Indian Valley yard sale in late May.

This will be a great opportunity to score gorgeous Dahlia tubers as well as some great Yard Sale finds at our house and around the valley!

Andre and I also have a big announcement.

We're starting a new business together that creates beauty in a different way.

I'll be sharing more about that soon.

I am so deeply grateful to have been on this flower journey with you and look forward to seeing you at our last events!
